When it comes to nurturing a healthy lifestyle that promotes youth and vitality, you have plenty of options. Regular exercise, healthy diet, and abstinence from harmful substances are all excellent practices that help keep you looking and feeling young and vibrant. However, sometimes it takes a bit more than just a physical approach to maintain the level of vitality you desire. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “A man is but the product of his thoughts, what he thinks, he becomes.” Positive thoughts produce a positive outlook. Negativity creates negativity. When we deal with stress from illness, poor relationships, work conflicts, and personal fears, what we had for lunch makes little difference. It’s how we deal with the stress we encounter that determines how we feel, and that begins with how we think about conflict and adversity. Do you view adversity as a challenge that can be overcome or as a roadblock on your path to happiness? Below are three steps that you can take to foster a positive attitude and give yourself a more youthful vitality.
You know who you are better than anyone else in the world, but you may still need to do some digging to find out what makes you feel the happy vitality of your youth. Are there any negative factors in your life that make you feel more stress than you should? You must make an effort to bring your conscious mind to the fore and realize what is and isn’t working in your life. Only then can you take the next step.
Once you have done some personal searching, you can begin to see what your life might look like if you could change some of the things that make you look and feel your age. Your vision is the conscious depiction of how you imagine that life would look and feel. After you have thought about the changes you want to make, you can then begin making those changes.
Action Steps and Accountability
Change is never easy and neither should it be. If making a change were as easy as flipping a switch, it wouldn’t hold as much value as something that requires planning, diligence, and discipline to achieve. Action steps allow you to break down your goals into more manageable pieces, which makes progress achievable and missteps less overwhelming. With action steps toward a specific goal, you can hold yourself accountable for your actions and thoughts.
